‘Masters of the Universe’ Star Teases Her Mysterious Role in the Live-Action Movie [Exclusive]
May 6, 2025
Venerable fantasy franchise Masters of the Universe is headed back to theaters next year, with director Travis Knight at the helm. Saturday Night Live alum Sasheer Zamata will star in the film, but her character is something of a mystery. While most of the film’s characters have years of established lore and action figures associated with them, Zamata is playing someone named “Suzie,” whom we know very little about. Collider’s Taylor Gates spoke to Zamata about the upcoming film while she was promoting her MCU TV series, Agatha All Along.
When asked what she could say about the film, Zamata couldn’t share too much, but she could reveal the comedic nature of her role:
“I have no idea what I can tease. [Laughs] But I finished shooting it. I think they’re still shooting the movie, but my part is done. It’s very fun, and that one — for me — is actually more comedy, which is my wheelhouse, so it was very fun to do. Everyone is such a joy to work with on that set. I truly had a blast doing it, and I also can’t wait to see it.”

Red, White & Royal Blue’s Nicholas Galitzine will star as another kind of royalty in the film: he’ll play Prince Adam, the mild-mannered heir to the throne of the planet Eternia and also, secretly, the barbarian hero He-Man. Assisting him are his allies Teela (Camila Mendes, Riverdale), Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba, The Wire), the Sorceress (Morena Baccarin, Deadpool), Fisto (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Atomic Blonde), Ram-Man (Jon Xue Zhang, The Brothers Son), and Adam’s parents, King Randor (James Purefoy, Rome), and Queen Marlena (Charlotte Riley, World Without End). Opposing him is the skull-faced warlock Skeletor (Jared Leto, Morbius) and his minions Evil-Lyn (Alison Brie, Community), Trap Jaw (Sam C. Wilson, Dodger), Goat Man (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, Game of Thrones), and Tri-Klops (Kojo Attah, The Beekeeper).
What Is ‘Agatha All Along’?

A spin-off of the MCU TV series WandaVision, Agatha All Along follows ancient witch Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) as she tries to regain her lost magical power. Zamata plays Jennifer Kale, a potions specialist turned beauty guru, who joins Harkness on her quest. The character of Jennifer Kale was created by Steve Gerber and Rich Buckler in 1972’s Adventures Into Fear #11; she is frequently associated with the shambling muck-monster Man-Thing.
Masters of the Universe hits theaters on June 5, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
