Star-Studded 93% Rotten Tomatoes Action Comedy Outpaces Tom Cruise and Jason Statham on Global Streaming Charts

Jun 16, 2025

There are hundreds of captivating movies streaming on Prime Video right now, but one of the more recent additions to the platform has surpassed two major stars on streaming charts. Deep Cover is the latest original movie from Prime Video. After earning a strong 93% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a 79% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter, the film has landed in the #3 spot on Prime Video’s top 10 list, behind only The Accountant 2 and The Better Sister. To reach the third spot, Deep Cover had to pass Jason Statham’s The Beekeeper, which has been a streaming phenomenon for over a year, and Tom Cruise’s Oblivion, which has been revived on the streamer thanks to the release of his latest Mission: Impossible movie. It’s also ahead of White Chicks, the 2004 cult classic starring Terry Crews. Deep Cover is a buddy action-comedy following three improv actors who are asked to go undercover in London’s criminal underworld. Starring in the lead role of Kat is Bryce Dallas Howard, who is known for her role as Claire Dearing in the Jurassic World movies, and also for directing episodes of various Star Wars TV shows. Starring alongside her are Orlando Bloom as Marlon, and Nick Mohammed as Hugh. Bloom is a Lord of the Rings veteran who is also famous for his work in Kingdom of Heaven, and Mohammed is best known for his work as Nathan Shelley in Ted Lasso. Sean Bean (Game of Thrones), Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon), Ian McShane (John Wick), and Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina) also star in Deep Cover as Billings, Fly, Metcalfe, and Shosh, respectively.
Who Wrote and Directed ‘Deep Cover’?

Derek Connolly, Colin Trevorrow, Ben Ashenden, and Alexander Owen all wrote the script for Deep Cover, and Tom Kingsley stepped behind the camera to direct the film. Ashenden also plays the role of Dawes in Deep Cover. Both Connolly and Trevorrow have worked with Howard in the past on the Jurassic World movies, but none of the three returned to work on Jurassic World Rebirth, which was penned by David Koepp and directed by Gareth Edwards. Deep Cover director Tom Kingsley is also known for his work on Doctor Who and Ghosts, and he’s been tapped to helm at least one episode of Alice and Steve, an upcoming TV series led by Jermaine Clement. Deep Cover is one of the most popular movies on Prime Video. Stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
